Edible Patterns!

To continue some pattern making, we made apple jack necklaces with various patterns. We loved making the patterns, but really enjoyed snacking while working too! Look for patterns throughout your home or when you are out and about with your child, you could even turn it into an eye-spy game!

Making Patterns!

We have started talking about patterns this week. We were able to first do some sound and motion patterns together as a whole group. The students really liked coming up with some fun sound patterns. Some examples we shared included: chicka, chicka, boom, boom, chicka, chicka, boom, boom, another was tee, tee, ta, tee, tee, ta, and another was tick, tock, tick, tock. They had fun creating their own to share. Today we started working with some color blocks to make some different patterns. Check out the fun!

Handwriting with Dry Erase Boards!

Today we did some handwriting and practiced the letters c and e. We are starting with the dry erase boards and will eventually be moving onto lined paper. They all did a great job with this today.

Telling Our Stories

Here is a look at what our oral storytelling time looks like. We have one storyteller in the chair and the rest of us are the listening audience. The audience has a job as well, they are to not only listen, but think if there is anything else the storyteller may have left them wondering about. The audience then gets a chance to ask some questions for clarification.

A Look At Some Things We've Been Doing

Here are some of the books we have read over the past few weeks. Ask your child to tell you about one of them, or what their favorite story was so far. We also have started some oral story telling in preparation for writer's workshop. The students are going to be asked to tell about a true story from his/her own life, that they can write about. Check out the list...talk to your child about some of their special experiences they could tell the class about and eventually put down into words and pictures on paper.

Library Fun

Today we went to the library and Mrs. Zerbe, our new librarian, read us a story about friendship. We have library every day 3. Please make sure to get those books back so that your child can bring another fun book home to share with you!
